The movement to change defined benefit pension schemes, often called final salary schemes, to defined payment schemes is gathering pace. Employers will meet resistance from Trade Unions though it is difficult to get many members to focus on pensions.

This move to boost corporate profits has the seeds of major conflict but requires the Trade Unions to make their members aware of the issues involved to counter the corporate spin.
